Simon & Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence

1964년에 발표한 사이먼 앤 가펑클의 앨범 [Wednesday Morning 3 A.M.] 수록곡이다.

1966년에 앨범 [Sounds Of Silence]에 타이틀 곡으로도 발표가 되었다.

1966년 빌보드 싱글차트 1위에 오른 곡이다.

사이먼 & 가펑클은 폴 사이먼과 아트 가펑클이 구성한 미국의 2인조 음악 그룹이다. 폴 사이먼과 

아트 가펑글은 어린 시절 친구사이였으며, 1960년대에 큰 명성을 얻었다. 대표곡으로는 

'The Sound of Silence', 'Mrs. Robinson, 'Bridge over Troubled Water'등이며, 이 곡들은 모두 

폴 사이먼에 의해 작곡된 것이다

사이먼 앤 가펑클이 1981년 진행했던 뉴욕시 센트럴 파크에서의 무료 공연은, 약 50만명의 관객을 

동원하며 역사상 가장 큰 공연으로 기록되어 있다.

불안한 꿈속에서 난 홀로 걸었어

자갈이 깔린 좁은 골목길 말이야

가로등 불빛의 원광 아래서

추위와 안개를 막으려 옷깃을 올려 세웠지

사람들은 자신 네온 신에게 절하고 기도하지
