싱글로 발매된 'Sad Movie'는 빌보드 싱글 차트 5위에 올랐고, 빌보드 이지 리스닝 (Easy Listening) 차트 1위를 차지하였다. 싱글 앨범은 100만 장 이상이 팔리면서 큰 성공을 거두었다.

 

'Sad Movie'의 작곡가인 John D. Loudermilk는 1960년에 개봉한 영화 '스파르타쿠스'를 보다가 영감을 받아서 곡을 만들었다고 한다.

 

슈 톰슨 (Sue Thompson)은 1925년 미국 출신의  팝/컨트리 가수로 그녀의 대표곡으로는 'Sad Movie', 'Norman'. 'Have a Good Time'등이 있다.
