'In the Navy'는 1979년 3월 26일에 발매된 빌리지 피플 (Village People)의 정규 4집 앨범 [Go West] 타이틀 곡이다.

 

1978년에 발표한 Y.M.C.A가 빌보드 싱글 차트 2위까지 오르는 엄청난 성공을 거두면서 세계적인 그룹이 된 빌리지 피플은 이듬해인 4집 앨범 [Go West]에서 'In the Navy'가 연이어 히트하며 미국 디스코를 대표하는 그룹이 되었다.

 

앨범 [Go West]는 미국 빌보드 앨범 차트에서 8위에 올랐고, 싱글로 발표된 'In the Navy'는 빌보드 싱글 차트 3위를 기록하였고, 일본 오리콘 차트, 네덜란드와 캐나다 싱글 차트 1위를 차지하였다. 영국과 아일랜드에서는 2위까지 올랐다.
