1982년 5월 10일에 발매된 듀란듀란 (Duran Duran)의 정규 2집 앨범 [Rio] 동명 타이틀곡. 앨범은 영국 앨범 차트 2위에  올랐고, 캐나다와 호주에서는 앨범 차트 1위를 차지하였다. 미국에서는 1982년 11월에 리믹스 앨범으로 재발매되었고 1983년 미국 빌보드 앨범 차트에서 6위를 차지하였다. 앨범은 무려 129주 동안 차트에 올랐고 더블 플래티넘을 달성하였다. 앨범은 크게 히트하였으며 전 세계적으로 듀란 듀란의 이름을 알리는데 크게 기여한 앨범이다.

 

'Rio'는 앨범에서 4번째로 싱글로 발표되었으며 영국 싱글 차트 9위에 올랐고 미국 빌보드 싱글 차트 14위까지 올랐다.

베이시스트 존 테일러 (John Taylor)의 현란하며 탁월한 베이스 라인과 닉 로즈 (Nick Rhodes)의 신시사이저 사운드가 조화를 이룬 뉴웨이브 (New Wave) 곡으로 초기 듀란 듀란 사운드를 느낄 수 있는 대표적인 곡이며 1980년대 최고의 뮤직비디오로 선정되었다. Rio는 무려 13가지의 리믹스 버전이 있는 곡이다.
